The contractor was skilled in his work. He knew what was wrong and knew exactly what was needed to fix the problem. He was very courteous and was willing to go the extra mile to do the job right. |

Wow! D.O.T.S delivered!
This is the way it should be, but rarely is, when dealing with contractors. Shane promised a lot and delivered every bit of it and more. In my long life, I have never had such a satisfactory experience with workmen as I got from Shane and his crew. They were as professional as it gets; punctual and efficient. Moreover, they were a pleasure to have around; very courteous and mindful of my schedule and property.
Shane was on the job every day and did a considerable amount of the work himself. He kept me informed about the job progress every step of the way and requested my input about several aspects of the job to be sure he was adhering to my expectations.
DOTS painted the exterior of my large house and did a lot of repair work on fascia, re-caulking windows, etc. Shane found and repaired problems I didn't notice myself. The quality of their work exceeded my expectations in every regard.
When the job was done, the cleanup was total--you would never know that a work crew had been on the property.
I chose D.O.T.S in the first place because Shane returned my calls promptly and met his commitment to meet with me on my schedule. Contrast that with others who did not return my calls for days and/or failed to turn up when they promised. Also, I was very impressed with his assessment of the work to be done and his suggestions on items I had not considered.
In summary, I meant in this review to express my total satisfaction with DOTS. I fear that my words were inadequate to express how strongly I feel about the job they did. If you choose any other contractor, at any price, you are missing a good deal.
Company Response:
Thank you. It was a pleasure working for you. |

I was sure that Shane was the right person for my job as soon as I met him. One of my friends had had him work at her house twice (she found him on Angie's List). Then I read all the reviews and called him. Shane walked around my house and garage and seemed to be knowledgable about the needs of an eighty year old home. I had not painted the trim in seven years and knew that the time was now before the hot summer.
Because I had some rotten wood due to water and squirrels he had lots of prep first. He power washed the first day. Then his very capable crew showed up the next day to sand away and replace damaged places or replace with new wood. They primed and painted. Shane found perfect matches for my two paint colors and away they went. They spent three and a half days on the prep and painting.
The iron railing in front of my home was needing to be repainted as well. It was rusty and coming apart in a couple places and he re-welded it, then sanded and primed and repainted with an oil base of the same color as the darker trim. It looks much better.
The wood stained front door was needing to be refinished and he made it look great. Like a piece of furniture.
Because my home is one that is original, I wanted it to look nice, but not new. It is an old English tudor (one of the few left in my neighborhood) and I want to keep it looking fresh. Old, but fresh. And I feel this was accomplished.
Now I know who to call when I need some painting, carpentry, insulating, repairs, whatever....I have found the right company for the job. I highly recommend Shane and his business, DOTS (Dependable On Time Service)
Everything was cleaned up as promised. And I am very happy.
Thank you so much shane. Keep up the great work. |

Shane and his assistant have worked on my house for more then a year. Shane is terrifically reliable and easy to work with. While this latest project was replacing attic insulation, my original issue was destructive squirrels (following the possums who had taken up residence in my attic prior to acquiring this house). The squirrels created a huge amount of damage very quickly. Shane replaced the soffits (which had been utterly destroyed on one side of the house) with new treated wood and covered with 28 gauge metal--solving the problem once and for all. He then painted to match the rest of the trim. He also repaired allot of attic damage. The original insulation was so contaminated that there was no choice but to remove it, following HEPA standards. Then, in July he blew new insulation in. Im allready saving in energy bills, the house is very much more comfortable and maintains the temperature very well. Shane not only efficiently and expertly performed all the big services on the house but he also did a number of handyman type repairs and installations over the last year while working on the big things.
He has a strong ethical sense and is committed to customer satisfaction. If he has to come back out for even a small correction, he is very quick to respond and committed to customer satisfaction. He is my handyman for life. |

James helped us out with installing ceiling fans, dimmer switches, as well as putting two lights on switch and a fan on another switch in our bathroom. He completed a major electrical job in our garage. He installed a 125 amp sub panel. He made sure to get a permit for this job from the city. These jobs took a total of three days, which is the amount of time he said it would take. He was very reasonable with the price. We were very impressed with his work. He has a great personality, and would definitely hire him again.
